About Yonah Welker
/I. Overview/
I've been working on the intersection of tech and society since 2005 year - when I've become a tech explorer and launched a hardware think tank. Over my journey, I founded and co-created tech startups and labs, helped to facilitate tech ecosystems through North America to APAC, MENA, Africa, Europe, screened over 2000 teams, contributed projects in ethics (AI, tech), deeptech and sustainability.
/II. Mission/
My work is focused on human-centered tech, research and policies behind it, emerging products and ventures which shape the future of learning, work, wellbeing, ability and access.
/III. Work Together/
● Tech & Startups (EIR, evaluator). As an entrepreneur in residence, my expertise is focused on connecting the dots of tech and product models, user research and experience, decentralized teams and communities. As an evaluator, my work is screening and evaluating technology teams, products, prototypes typically on pre-scale stages. I serve venture ecosystems (ex. - 500 Startups), academia campuses (ex. - Insead), tech nonprofits (ex. - Women In AI) and public projects funded by multilateral entities (ex. - ISDI, European Commission).
● Research & policy (Explorer). My exploration interest is focused on research and policy behind human-centered technology and products. My goal is to ensure that any technology design or AI are implemented and deployed in a responsible and ethical way, including challenges related to safety, privacy, human rights, transparency, explainability.
● Halo Co (Ventures). I collect micro-portfolios of promising like-minded projects and products (typically through boards and alliances). Currently, there are several directions: "1st" - future of learning, wellbeing, work, "2nd" - gender, women and diversity, "3rd" - sustainable/circular economy and consumer products.
