Senior/Lead Radar Perception Engineer (Hybrid)

Who We Are:

Zendar is creating a high-resolution radar imaging system that has resolution similar to lidar, allowing cars to see in inclement weather. We want to change the role of radar in the autonomous driving sensor stack and demonstrate that radars can take on many of the functions of lidar at a much lower cost and in all weather conditions. Zendar's technology fuses data streams from multiple sensors to build a more accurate scene and utilizes machine learning to predict likely environmental scenarios and provide situational awareness. All of this works in an embedded AI processor with tight latency and performance guarantees to deliver reliable sensing and perception.

Who You Are:

In this role, you will lead the development of a radar perception solution for the agricultural market. We have completed several evaluation projects with leading tractor manufacturers and have proven that our radar solution can address critical use cases for safety and autonomy in agricultural environments. To bring this product to market, we need to develop a radar perception solution, tuned specifically for ag environments, which creates an environment model from the raw radar point clouds.

You will work closely with our product/business team and our customers to identify the value proposition and critical requirements for the perception solution, and translate that into technical decisions and designs. You will be responsible for rapidly prototyping and developing the ag perception software and for balancing short-term milestones in the customer program alongside long-term maintainability of the product.

We are looking for someone who is very hands-on and biased towards action. You should have excellent software engineering skills as well as a deep and practical understanding of perception techniques. As a lead engineer, you should be able to quickly make high-impact technical decisions with solid engineering reasoning. You will also be expected to mentor a more junior software engineer and work effectively with them.

What We Look For:

7+ years of experience developing perception algorithms and software, preferably using radar point clouds or similar sensors (eg lidar) Deep understanding of perception techniques, such as clustering, object tracking, free space analysis, pose estimation, etc Excellent software development skills in Python Ability to lead projects which deliver reliably on challenging goals Proven ability to partner with business/product teams to build solutions with the highest business impact Familiarity with professional software development tools, such as source control (git) and unit testing Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
