Right after Semester 1 as a full time student pursuing Computer Science at National University Singapore (NUS),  I decided to take the leap of faith and get a Leave of Absence (LOA) from school to focus on running my company, BTME Corporate Services Pte Ltd, which is a dynamic business management consultancy firm aimed to empower local SMEs through government grants and desired business matching.

One of the projects that the company is working on right now, taps on to the growing trend of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and is called the Grant Uncle.Powered by our experience as business management consultant in BTME Corporate Services. 

As Facebook messenger Chatbot, Grant Uncle is characterised to be uniquely Singaporean lor, apparent from his strong command of Singlish.

Uncle is one-stop, easy to understand channel for SME owners who wish to tap on the abundant grants that many government agencies are offering but have little or no awareness. Grant Uncle wishes to chat with you, young fellas, and to introduce to you the different grants up for grabs.

Following the recent release of the gov.sg Chabot, the Grant Uncle doesn’t fall short in his ability to have small talk.

The Grant Uncle is superb in expressing information regarding grants, through his simple and colourful infographics in easy-to-bite sizes. Even users who have zero experience in running a business was effectively educated of the grants; some of which we couldn’t grasp from the official sites due to the overload of information provided on the websites.

This chatbot is definitely not perfect yet but will require more users to test and improve further.  We plan to make Grant Uncle smarter to help the business owner in maximising their business potential by tapping on available resources, simplifying the process to claim grants and connecting them to the right vendor to grow their business.
