When it comes to searching and making an appointment for a beauty salon, a common method would be to depend on word-of-mouth and scouring the internet for reviews before heading over to the salon’s Facebook page or website to search for their contact number and making the appointment.

But is there a more efficient way for us to find, discover, and book beauty services out there? This is where Malaysian-based startup WeStyleAsia comes in.

Dubbed "Everyone's Personal Grooming Assistant",  WeStyleAsia is an online platform that allows people to easily book beauty services in a simple and convenient manner.

Upon landing on the website, users can either search for a beauty service they're looking for, or select from the many available choices that they have. 

Some of the categories include grooming services for hair, nails, makeup, skincare, massages, and more.

WeStyleAsia was founded in 2015 by Arthur Tan, who previously worked in an investment consultancy firm while being a professional TV Host/Emcee in the entertainment industry. The business initially started out solely as a booking platform for customers to book their beauty services back then. 

However after months of hustling and trying to push the business this forward, Arthur realized that the business model required refinement as customers were not retained even after heavy marketing expenditure. 

Today, the company has repositioned itself as a software management solution for beauty service owners to manage their businesses more holistically, while providing a simple and easy-to-use interface that bridges end-users who wish to make bookings (B2B2C). 

There are many perks available to users today as well, from enjoying value-for-money packages, collecting points upon making their bookings, and a brand new "offpeak" option when making bookings from selective professionals off peak hours. 

This shift has proven to become a more effective approach to monetizing and growing the business better.

At the recent Investment Showcase & Offering event by Crowdplus.asia, Arthur mentioned that WeStyleAsia has on-boarded over a thousand salons, serving over 6500 users in the last 6 months since operation. The company has also reported an increase of over 10% in revenues for merchants, and a 25% month-on-month merchant growth. 

Some of the advisors onboard the company include Datin Winnie Loo (Founder of A Cut Above), Tham Lih Chung (Founder & CEO of Rhombus Group), and Alan Lim (Principle Advisor at Nexea Angels)

Plans for the coming months revolve around solidifying their technology infrastructure, and increasing the size of their team to scale and penetrate more parts of Malaysia. Arthur also mentioned that the company is expected to reach breakeven within a 12-month span from today.

WeStyleAsia is also presently raising their subsequent investment round via equity crowdfunding (ECF) with Crowdplus.asia, which is expected to go live real soon.
